Changeover

Equipment QC

Input List

A structured, current list of the audio sources required for a performance or programme, with the identity, capture or connection information and notes needed to prepare their entry into the live-sound system.

Live Event Production

The coordinated process of turning an event requirement into a show that can be prepared, built, operated and recovered.

Live Sound

The system and workflow used to capture or receive, control, mix, route, monitor and reproduce audio during a live performance or event.

Load-In

Load-in is the planned process of bringing a production's equipment and materials into the venue and moving them to the places needed for setup. It involves access, vehicles, movement routes, crew, equipment sequence and departmental handovers. Its boundary with setup varies by production.

Load-Out

Load-out is the planned process of moving a production's equipment and materials out of the venue and loading them for onward transport after use. It depends on the strike sequence, audience and venue access, equipment accountability, cases, vehicles, crew and agreed handover deadlines.

Production Advance

The pre-show coordination process used to review current requirements, clarify responsibilities and interfaces, record decisions and keep unresolved questions visible so a live production can be prepared for load-in and delivery.

Production Brief

A structured description of an event's known requirements, scope, responsibilities and unresolved information, used to help production teams understand what must be planned or quoted.

Production Design

The process of translating event, venue, programme and artist requirements into a workable technical and operational plan.

Production Management

The coordination of requirements, responsibilities, suppliers, schedules, people and operational interfaces across a production.

Production Manager

A person whose agreed role is to maintain the wider production picture and coordinate interfaces between the event brief, venue, artists, suppliers, technical departments, people, schedule and logistics.

Production Schedule

A production schedule is the working timeline for preparing, building, checking, operating and removing a live production. It connects venue access, load-in, setup, rehearsals, soundcheck, doors, show operation, strike and load-out with the people and dependencies needed for each stage.

Rehearsal

A planned opportunity to practise and check the delivery of a performance or event programme, using the people, content and production elements relevant to the purpose of the session.

Run of Show

A run of show is a working document that sets out the sequence of a live event, including its segments, timings, people, transitions and relevant production cues. It helps the teams delivering the programme understand what happens next and what must be ready. Its format and level of detail vary by production.

Show Calling

Coordination of the timing and communication of agreed production cues during a live programme. The calling function connects the current programme and relevant readiness information to designated actions, within the responsibilities and authority agreed for the production.

Soundcheck

The pre-show process of checking performers and programme sources with the prepared live-sound system, monitoring, audience reproduction and venue so adjustments and unresolved problems can be identified before performance.

Stage Management

Coordination of performers, backstage activity, stage transitions and related production information so the agreed programme can be delivered. Responsibilities and its relationship to show calling vary by production.

Stage Plot

A current visual plan showing the intended positions of performers, instruments and important stage equipment, with orientation and supporting notes needed to review and prepare the physical layout.

Technical Rider

A document communicating production requirements.
